Momodou Sabally Hits Back at UDP’s Lare Sisay

Momodou Sabally, Special Adviser to the President, has fiercely responded to United Democratic Party (UDP) member Lare Sisay, branding him a “disgruntled retired conspiracy theorist and outlandish claimer.”

Sisay recently claimed in an interview on a popular radio talk show program on West Coast Radio called Coffee Time with Peter Gomez  that President Adama Barrow intends to rig the 2026 presidential election. He further alleged that the president plans to declare a State of Emergency as the elections approach to remain in power beyond 2026.

In his response, Sabally criticized Sisay, describing him as someone who, in pursuit of worldly gain and fame, shows no regard for moral or spiritual laws. He accused Sisay of lacking respect for facts and figures, calling his statements unfounded.

Sabally took to Facebook yesterday, stating that after touring the country with the National People’s Party (NPP), he realized the ruling party has more supporters among the electorate than the opposition parties combined.

“That is why I find Lare Sisay’s claims that President Barrow and the NPP cannot win the next election ridiculous,” Sabally wrote. “This man, who has never conducted or spoken at a proper political rally, cannot claim expertise in areas that are foreign to him. But with his ego, he makes such baseless claims.”

Sabally also dismissed Sisay’s prediction that Barrow would lose the 2026 election based on the Massembeh Ward by-election results, calling it absurd. He pointed out that the election involved only 1,213 votes, which is a tiny fraction of the 859,000 votes cast in the 2021 election.

“Taking the 1,213 total votes cast in the Massembeh Ward by-election as a percentage of the total 859,000 votes cast in the 2021 election yields just 0.1%. Who, in their right mind, would consider that a reliable sample size to make any respectable predictions in this age of data science?” he questioned.

Sabally further suggested that instead of making misleading claims, Sisay should perform ablution, pray two ‘rakas’, and seek forgiveness from God for his false statements. He also criticized Sisay for his role in the UDP’s failed 5-Point Agenda and alleged that his ideas contributed to the party’s loss in the 2021 election.

“It is people like Lare who cost the UDP the 2021 election by introducing plagiarized blueprints that were disconnected from the realities and emotions of the targeted voters,” Sabally asserted.
