A suspected armed robber was on Saturday killed in a fire-fight in the Central River Region settlement of Ballangharr Kerr Nderry while three other suspected robbers escaped, multiple sources confirmed to The Voice last weekend.
Informed sources informed this medium that robbers shattered the calm of Kerr Nderry in the evening of Saturday when they attacked the shop of one Hadim Touray and a Mauritanian shop.
According to our sources, the community of Ballanghar mobilized after the robbers struck and the ensuing confrontation led to the injuring of one of the suspects, who was identified as Yerro Sheikh Sowe from Rosso Senegal. Yerro was medically evacuated to Kaur Health Centre after he sustained gunshot wounds but was subsequently pronounced dead at the Farafenni General Hospital. Three of the suspects, who have been identified as Senegalese nationals, were said to have fled the scene and were believed to be on the run. The hunting gun that the suspected robbers employed during the attack reportedly belonged to the fallen suspected robber Yerro Sheikh Sowe and it has yet to be recovered, this medium has learned.
The Gambia Police Force (GPF) confirmed on Sunday that a suspect Amadou Bah, who hailed from Sare Wurry in Senegal, was immobilized by the people of Kerr Nderry in hot pursuit as he attempted to make away with a bag containing D29,910 and 93,000 CFA.
One of the armed robbers was on Sunday morning apprehended at a secco, where he found refuge after sustaining gunshot wound in the leg.
