Sabally Accuses UDP of Continued Attacks After His Departure

The Special Adviser to the President, MomodouSabally, has accused militants of his former party, the United Democratic Party (UDP), of launching a series of attacks against him since his departure. He warned that he would now retaliate against anyone who targets his character.

Sabally claimed that despite the honour, respect, and praise he had previously shown toward the UDP, its leadership, and its members, he has faced relentless insults, defamation, and abuse from party militants over the past year.

He asserted that if the attacks were only coming from ordinary party supporters, he could have ignored them. However, he alleged that the onslaught is being led and encouraged by top UDP figures, including LareSisay and the party’s National Organizing Secretary, TalibBensouda, whom he accused of spearheading a nationwide tour to defame him.

“Social media platforms aligned with UDP and run by prominent party supporters have persistently attacked, insulted, and ridiculed me for the past year without remorse,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

However, the presidential adviser expressed frustration that the attacks have continued unabated, stating that he has now reached his limit in trying to handle the situation with patience.

“To be fair, some UDP members have treated me with great decorum and may be spared any potential reprisals. As for the rest, let them get ready, because the commando is set to strike back,” he warned.

He declared his readiness as he said he was fully prepared to go on the offensive to defend his honour, dignity, and integrity—as well as that of his family.
