The Banjul High Court, presided over by Justice Omar Cham, on Wednesday adjourned the case around four violent armed robberies involving three Gambians and an Ivorian.
They have been charged for different violent robberies.
According to the record transmitted to the Banjul High Court from a lower court in Banjul, Ansumana Jarju, an alleged mastermind of the violent robberies, on or about 29 June 2021, at Unity Bureau in Senegambia, robbed one Binta Bah and forcefully took from her D1,200,three laptops valued at D23,000, a Samsung S9+ worth D17,000 and a simple cell phone valued at D1000. The stolen items, property of Amadou Mutarr Jallow , were valued at D42,200.
Jarjue allegedly recruited Abdoulie Jallow and Losseni Diabate, Ivorian national accused of being armed with cutlasses on or about 31 December 2024, when they conspired amongst themselves and allegedly attacked the United Vegetable Oil Company at Denton Bridge and went away with D400,000.
The court also had that trio in their third alleged robbery expedition on 22 January 2025, went along with one Omar Secka and armed with pistols, violently robbed the Brusubi branch of Access Bank and took D1.5M. Jarju, however, reportedly stepped aside, leaving Jallow and Diabate to execute it. The duo, allegedly armed with pistols, allegedly attacked El Hella Shop at Banjul on 8 February 2025, and violently robbed Muhammed Seedy Hydra and Ebrima Hydra of D1,245,000 and 1,650 CFA.
Meanwhile, the State prosecutor has promised to amend the charge sheet before the resumption of the case.
