At least 16 participants from the Personnel Management Office (PMO), under the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) and Accountant General’s Department (AGD), under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MoFEA) on Monday, March 24 2025 commenced a five-day training on Data Analytics Using Microsoft Power BI at Gomindz Academy along Kairaba Avenue.
Power BI is a collection of software services apps among others that work together to turn unrelated sources of data into coherent, visually immersive, and interactive insights.
In an interview with this medium aside from the training, the Permanent Secretary (PS) Reforms at the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS), Sheriff Jallow said his Ministry in collaboration with the Accountant General Department is developing an HR and payroll data warehouse where Microsoft Power BI Analytics can be applied for advanced and highly customized HR and payroll data analytics.
“Once completed, will offer the Ministry the opportunity to monitor various HR and payroll-related reports on a dashboard to facilitate quick and accurate decision making,” PS Jallow explained.
According to PS Jallow, MoPS plays a critical role in ensuring efficient service delivery and decision-making while adding that in today’s data-driven world, leveraging tools like Microsoft Power BI can significantly enhance data analysis, visualization, and reporting capabilities.
He outlined the objectives of the training as follows: to introduce participants to the fundamentals of Data analytics and visualization, equip participants with hands-on skills in using Microsoft Power BI, enable participants to create interactive dashboards and reports for data-driven decision-making and enhance the Ministry’s capacity to use Power BI for Analysis and insights.
