Lower Court Transfers Murder Case to Special Criminal Court

The Banjul Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday transferred the murder case of one Ebou Secka to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court.

Ebou has been charged with the murder of Ebrima Ceesay, who was a taxi driver and a resident of Wellingara.

When the case was mentioned, Deputy Commissioner Malang Jarju, leading the prosecution, applied for the transfer of the case to the Special Criminal Court and the remand of the Ebou Secka at Mile 2, pending his appearance before the Special Criminal Court of the High Court.

The prosecution’s applications were granted.

Ebou Secka is charged with the offence of murder, contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Code. The particulars of the offence stated that in July 2024, with malice aforethought, Ebou unlawfully caused the death of one Ebrima Ceesay.

The case continues.
