It’s Misleading to Say Gambians Unhappy with Barrow—Saihou Mballow

By: Kemo Kanyi

Political Adviser to President Adama Barrow, Saihou Mballow, has said anyone especially politicians telling people that Gambians are not happy with the way the President is running the country, is attempting to deceive himself and his audience.

Speaking to The Voice in an interview on Saturday, the President’s political adviser argued that Gambians are happy with the President and are “very willing” to vote for his extension of tenure at the presidency.

Those that are saying citizens will not vote for Barrow in the 2026 presidential election are deceiving people and did not base their ‘deception’ on any tangible reasons,” he noted.

Mr. Mballow stated that President Adama Barrow staged his life by sacrificing everything he had in 2016 so that country and its citizens could enjoy the freedom of today’s Gambia.

He said there are people in The Gambia who want to serve in the presidential capacity but did not contribute anything meaningful to the development of this country, adding that Gambians cannot trust such kind of individuals and opportunists.

“What have they contributed to the country’s development? Already we have seen the sacrifice that the President had done before he became president. During his tenure, he has achieved a massive transformation of all sectors in the country. These are tangible evidence Gambians see and know about,” Saihou Mballow pointed out.

The political adviser to the President added that after going around the country, he has realised a growing love and respect from Gambians towards President Adama Barrow, a signal that he’s appreciated by most Gambians.

“The majority of Gambians want the President to continue leading this country beyond 2026. I met people in all the regions and their message is that they want President Barrow to continue leading the country because of the good work he is doing and the peace and stability in the country,” he said.
