Man Remanded for Possessing Fake Foreign Bank Notes

Alpha Jallow, also known as Collins Nwoke, a Nigerian national, was on Thursday 17th April, 2025 remanded by Brusubi Magistrates’ Court while facing charges of ‘Purchasing forged bank notes’, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

Magistrate K. Baldeh of Brusubi Magistrates’ Court ordered the accused to be remanded at Mile Two Central Prison following the prosecution’s request.

Meanwhile, upon the reading of the charged sheet, the accused person pleaded not guilty, the prosecution opposed his bail and requested an adjournment to call witnesses and present evidence.

The court granted the request and ordered the remanding of the accused at Mile 2 State Central Prison.

The matter was adjourned to April 30th, 2025, for further hearings.

It could be recalled that the Gambia Police Force updated the public on their ongoing investigations into a recent operation in Bakau, which led to the recovery of $23,100 in suspected counterfeit U.S. dollars and 57.5 million CFA francs in suspected fake currency.
