The Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MoFEA), through the Directorate of Budget, on Tuesday held the 2025 Citizens’ Budget Dialogue at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center.
The participants were, inter alia, drawn from MDAs, Civil Society Organizations, University of the Gambia. The dialogue was aimed at providing a more simplified version of the approved national budget to improve citizens’ participation in the budget process and to promote transparency and accountability on the side of the government.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at MoFEA, Juldeh Ceesay, highlighted that the Gambian government attaches significance to transparency, inclusive governance, and people-centered development.
DPS Ceesay stated that the Citizens’ Budget is a tool that aims to make the national budget more accessible and understandable to all Gambians, regardless of their educational background.
She explained that budget is a reflection of citizens’ needs, adding that MoFEA continues to invest in producing simplified versions of the national budget to ensure understanding.
