The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has extended “heartfelt gratitude” to its supporters and congratulated the National People’s Party (NPP) following the conduct of the Banjul Half-Die Ward election.
In a post-election statement, the PPP described the election as a victory for democracy, emphasizing that while only one candidate could officially win, the real triumph belonged to the people of the ward, who demonstrated civic responsibility by participating in the process.
“We sincerely thank everyone who voted, regardless of their choice,” the party said, adding that civic engagement strengthens the foundations of democracy.
The PPP also praised its candidate, Mr. Salieu Jallow, for leading a respectful and community-centred campaign that “touched many hearts”.
“Mr. Jallow has shown us how to run an effective and dignified campaign. His commitment to serving his community and the positive energy he brought to the race have been inspiring. He has a bright future ahead,” the party noted.
The PPP expressed deep appreciation to its campaign team for their tireless efforts, highlighting the “crucial role they played in reaching out to voters and promoting the party’s vision for a better Gambia”.
The party further expressed acknowledgement to all those who contributed through volunteering, financial support, and community mobilization, stressing that such efforts were instrumental in advancing its message.
Reaffirming its broader mission, the PPP described itself as not only a political entity but a movement grounded in the vision of safeguarding national sovereignty, upholding the rule of law, promoting unity, and defending the rights of all Gambians.
Finally, the PPP congratulated the NPP and its candidate for their victory, underscoring the importance of respecting election results as a true reflection of the people’s will.
“The journey does not end here,” the party affirmed, pledging to continue advocating for the welfare and progress of all Gambians, regardless of political affiliation.
