The Chairperson of Tanji Beach Management Committee (TBMC), Lamin Bojang, has appealed to President Adama Barrow’s administration to provide more fishing boats to the Tanji fish landing site to help in mitigating irregular migration from the West Coast Region.
” I am requesting more boats from the Ministry of Fisheries through the intervention of President Adama Barrow,’’ Bojang stated in an interview with The Voice, recalling how the Barrow administration supported his committee with two fishing boats.
He pointed out that Gambians set aside their political differences and unite in building their nation, noting that youths should be at the frontline of the country’s development.
‘’We should not expect non-Gambians to develop our own country,’’ Bojang emphasized.
He disclosed that the Anji Village Beach Management Committee’s 10% annual revenue is allocated to Tanji VDC.
According to Bojang, the beach management committee takes on a daily basis a basketful of fish from any boat that docks at Tanji fish landing site for the community’s development, adding that the revenue generated is also distributed among fishermen every two months.
He explained that the committee gives 10% of its annual revenue to the VDC to fund the village’s development projects.
