Gambia, Senegal Join Efforts to Boost Road, Air Transport and Infrastructure

The Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure, concluded a successful three-day bilateral engagement with the Ministry of Transport, Senegal, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Dakar.

The engagement featured a ministerial-level meeting followed by two days of technical discussions, focusing on strengthening cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal in areas of road transport, infrastructure, and air transport.

 

The Gambian delegation comprises Honorable Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Matar Ceesay, Director of Transport, Sainabou Houma, and also the Managing Director and Technical Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA). The Director General of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and his team also contributed to the discussions on air transport virtually during the period.

 

Key topics during the forum included operational challenges at key infrastructure points like the Senegambia Bridge, progress on joint road projects, and discussions around the domestication of air transport agreements.

 

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to addressing shared challenges and advancing solutions that promote smooth, safe, and efficient movement across borders.

 

The Senegalese delegation included the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Bamba Sy, the Director of Transport, Monsieur Valdiodio Ndiaye, and the Director General of Air Sénégal, Mr El Hadji Tidiane Ndiaye.

 

This bilateral engagement is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to foster strong regional partnerships and drive sustainable transport development for the benefit of their people and economies.

 

The Ministry of Transport Works and Infrastructure extended appreciation to its Senegalese counterparts for their warm hospitality and productive discussions.
