On Thursday, February 6th, 2025, members of the Jabbie and Gassama families, belonging to the Soninke ethnic group (Serahuleh), assembled at the President Award Scheme in Bakau, The Gambia, for the 4th edition of their International Conference.
Abdulrahman Jabbie, vice president of the Jabbie Gassama International Conference, affirmed that the organization was established in November 2020. The first three editions were conducted outside The Gambia; however, due to the support of His Excellency President Adama Barrow, this year’s event was successfully hosted in the nation.
“The Jabbie Gassama International Conference serves as a vital forum for members to engage in discussions regarding significant socio-cultural issues, exchange ideas, and collaborate on critical matters pertinent to the social welfare of West Africa, where the Jabbie Gassama people are predominantly located. This event fosters the immersion of the Jabbie Gassama clan in the rich tapestry of global cultural harmony and tolerance. Additionally, it provides a robust platform for scholars and cultural enthusiasts to explore the diverse traditions, heritage, and identities that characterize our communities. Participants are afforded the opportunity to enhance their understanding of religious and sociocultural contexts while broadening their humanitarian perspectives,” Abdulrahman Jabbie stated.
This year’s conference drew considerable attendance from numerous Jabbie Gassama Kunda relatives representing various countries, thereby highlighting the unwavering unity and strength of the community.
