Training of Trainers on SPS culminates from Bangladesh-Gambia South-South Cooperation -Minister Bouy

The Minister of Public Service (MoPS) has said that Training of Trainers (TOT) on Service Process Simplification is a South-South Cooperation Agreement entered into between the Governments of Bangladesh and The Gambia through a2i and his Ministry.

 Hon. Baboucarr Bouy was speaking on Monday February 24, 2025 at Metzy Hotel in Kololi as he presided over the official opening ceremony of Training of Trainers on Service Process Simplification.

Public Service Minister Bouy described Service Process Simplification (SPS) as a process of reviewing and updating the current service delivery procedures and protocols of government office with the aim of simplifying and making them more user-friendly and efficient.

He highlighted the key benefits of the SPS as follows: reducing the lengthiness in decision-making, implementing citizen-friendly service methods, fulfilling the multiple demands of citizens, ensuring simplification before digitalization, improving the quality of services and attaining citizen satisfaction.

He therefore stated that the training is critical to ensure improve service delivery and citizens delight as well as the foundation for successful digitalization across government institutions.

The partnership minister Bouy added, underscores the strong bond that exists between the Governments of Bangladesh and The Gambia, adding that a2i agreed to help The Gambia replicate their hugely successful MyGov platform were citizens access hundreds of government services online.

He revealed that Government of The Gambia agreed to start with the following five services namely: Birth certificate, ID card, Passport, Drivers Licence and Business registration.

Hon. Bouy urged participants to take the opportunity and gain the required skills that would take them through the journey, while also commended the Government of Bangladesh for their support and collaboration with the Government of The Gambia.

Director General, Communication and Digital Economy at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Mr. Lang Loum gave update on MyGov status.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Service, Pateh Jah chaired the opening ceremony, while Mr. Abdullah Al Fahim, Head of Project Management Bangladesh Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology explained a2i Mission in The Gambia.

The opening ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Secretaries, at PMO and the Ministry of Public Service, Lamin Jawara and Sheriff Jallow respectively.
