The academy boys from Jarra Soma, Heart Academy, register a crucial win over Fortune FC, one of the favourite teams to win the Gambia Football Federation Division one league, in a hard battling encounter at the Brikama Boxba mini stadium in week fourteen of the league.
The two sides were separated by a point with petroleum boys, Fortune FC sitting a point adrift of the academy outfit. The result catapulted the latter four points away from the former. Heart Academy currently accumulates 26 points after 14 league matches, while the league leader, Real De Banj, is recording 27 points with a game in hand that plays on Sunday against Bombada FC at the home of the defending champions, Real De Banjul FC.
Ismaila Saidykhan scored in the 28th minute of the match for Heart Academy—a goal that was enough for the first-ever rural division one team to collect the maximum three points away to Fortune FC.
In Banjul, on the same day, Hawks FC registered an away 2-1 win over Banjul United after conceding an early goal in the game. Malick Jangum wrote his name on the score sheet for Banjul United in the 6th minute of the game. Alieu Manneh levelled the score in the 13th minute before Habib Camara added their advantage three minutes before the regulation time. Hawks FC occupies fourth place on the standing, while Banjul United sits at the rock bottom of the league table.
On Saturday, Steve Biko FC collected the maximum three points at the Bakau mini stadium against new comers, Gambian Dutch Lions FC, with Agibou Jallow’s loan goala 1-0 win. The win moves Steve Biko to 18 points, two points ahead of the opponents and occupying the 8th spot. Gambian Dutch Lions on 10th place after fourteen matches.
Brikama United defeated the struggling Marimoo Parkfood FC by a 1-0 scoreline at home after a fascinating encounter. Brikama UTD moves to 3rd while Marimoo Parkfood FC remains in 12th place.
