Four fellows arraigned for stealing and conspiracy to commit felony

Four men have been arraigned before the Kanifing Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate Mben Faal for offences including conspiracy to commit a felony, and assault with intent to steal.

The four accused namely; Awa Ceesay, Janko Ceesay, Karamba Singhateh, and Abdou Bah.

Their particulars of offence read, on count one Awa Ceesay, Janko Ceesay Karamba Singhateh, and Abdou Bah did on the 3rd day of February at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipal Council, conspired among themselves with intent to commit a felony.

On count two the particulars of offence alleged that the four accused on the 3rd of February 2025, at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipal Council, intended to steal and assault one Alen Mendy and Saigene Mendy with stones and bottles on their head causing them injuries.

The particular for count three alleged that Awa Ceesay, Janko Ceesay, Karamba Singhateh, and Abdou Bah on the 3rd of February 2025, at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipal Council, stole the following items

-8 Refrigerators valued at D64,000.00, 20 Bluetooth speakers valued at D60,000.00, 10 electric rice cookers valued at D35,000.00, 8 flat screens 32 inches valued at D64,000.00, 8 flat screens 19 inches valued at D26,400, 19 fordable chairs valued at D15,200, 4 fordable Tables valued at D10,000, 1 tent valued at D30,000, 1 textile tent cover valued at D3,000, 1 Samsung A10 Mobile phone valued at D6,000, 2 bomb bag containing cash of D20,000 and D7,000, 1 Samsung x10 mobile phone valued at D9,000, 1 silver chain (necklace) valued at D5,000, Rolex wrist watch valued at D1,500, 1 smartphone valued at D11,100, the total value of these items is D374,200 being properties of Ebrima Tamba, Alen Mendy, Alkali Cham, and Salgene Mendy.

Meanwhile, taking their plea, the four accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them.

ASP Oley Bob Davies who announced her appearance for the Inspection General of Police (IGP) applied for an adjournment to enable her to bring witnesses without any objection to the bail of the accused.

Magistrate Mben Faal granted them bail in the sum of D500,000. 00 each, with one Gambian surety who shall deposit his or her valid national identity card or passport and also swear into an affidavit of means.

The matter, therefore, was adjourned to April 8 2025.
