Dampha Challenges Sabally to Relay People’s Frustrations to Barrow

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the UDP in Bundunka Kunda has challenged Momodou Sabally to continue venting out people’s frustrations to President Adama Barrow as he used to before decamping to the NPP.

PRO Sulayman Dampha tasked the presidential adviser and the deputy NPP campaign manager to continue voicing out to the President the “hardships” that the Gambian people are going through.

He stated that Sabally was a fierce critic of President Barrow’s governance style, adding that the quality of life of many Gambians continue to drop. Dampha said the youthful population is increasingly losing confidence in the ability and willingness of the government to help them lead productive lives in the country.

Dampha wondered why Sabally is not talking about the “increasing” corruption in the Barrow administration. He claimed that the current rate of corruption in the central government is affecting the lives and livelihoods of the citizens.

“Sabally has vomited and licked it. He once described the state of the Gambian economy as a “failed economic condition”. Now, he is not talking about the hardship the citizens are facing. Everything in our markets is getting more expensive. We are not hearing him voicing that out for the president to take necessary actions,” Dampha said in an interview with this reporter on Thursday. “Sabally was sharply criticising the Barrow administration for not creating employment opportunities for the youth, hence, the surge in irregular migratory journeys among young people. He is not mentioning this probably because he is now part of the Barrow gang. These shows that Sabally was not speaking in the interest of the poor.”

He cited that the youth of the country continue to cry, especially those involved in sports.

“Momodou Sabally was pointing a finger of blame to the minister responsible for youth and sports for the poor sports infrastructure in The Gambia. He accused the minister of incompetence, but he can’t speak like that anymore simply because he is a party to poor governance,” Mr. Dampha added.

UDP’s Bundung constituency PRO highlighted that the country’s health sector is continuously deteriorating, stating that medicines and needed medical equipment are not available for the nurses and doctors to use when attending to patients in various healthcare centres.

“These are the kind of issues we want to hear the presidential adviser put to the president, so they can be addressed for the benefit of all Gambians,” he pointed out.

He further alleged that the presidential adviser has put his interest before the country, hence his defection to the ruling party.
